Animal - Miike Snow (acoustic cover)

This song is originally so boppy…and I love it…but underneath all that…there is a lot of sadness. I guess it’s kind of like life…there is a lot of sadness underneath all the smiles….and they only come out at certain times and places….usually intense or safe ones. So I guess that’s what I wanted to do with this song…give the song a safe place for the sadness to come out and show itself.

um….ok, so perhaps I’m falling in love with The Gaslight Anthem. Here they are covering “Baba O’Riley.” Can you see and feel that energy? That confidence? Literally SEX. It’s amazing. I believe it just sold me on seeing them at the Wiltern when they come through LA soon. I can feel myself strongly falling….

The Gaslight Anthem - “American Slang”

I was perusing Buzzbands L.A. and stumbled upon this video by the The Gaslight Anthem. Kevin Bronson (who runs the site) likens the band to Bruce Springsteen, and I have to agree. The songs does feel like a modern day, rallying cry in some way…filled with angst, longing, desperation, hope and grease. Definitely worth having on repeat today as I type at my desk and long for adventure.

I haven’t been blogging a lot recently….but I think I would like to start again. Maybe it’s a place to ramble a little bit more than Facebook or Twitter….which is more of a home for pithy one liners anyways. I think it might be nice to ramble a little bit about the things that inspire me.

So my friend posted this video on Facebook. I think it is crowd-stompingly magical bit of a confessional. It reminds me of the way going to a Josh Ritter concert feels, with him beaming and everyone clapping and singing along. I bet they would be amazing life.

It was my friends obsession of the day…and now it is mine. Mumford & Songs- Little Lion Man

Hi everybody!

I have so much good news that I’m so excited to share.

Good News #1, I got word that my song “The Greatest Good” is getting it’s first major airplay! It’s going to be featured on the Dave Koz show on JWAVE in Tokyo, Japan. I can’t even express how happy I am, but I can tell you there were definitely screams and jumping. I’m so excited has become a grand understatement.

Good News #2, found that “Build Me A Bridge” is a finalist on a Valentine’s Day compilation by the online magazine The Alternate Root. There were 500 entries and “Bridge” is one of 33 finalists. They will pick 24 final songs to be on the compilation and it’s being chosen by votes. If you could vote for it, I would be so thankful! Good News #3: MY CDs ARE IN! The release date is Feb 22nd, but I’m accepting pre-orders at www.jenniferquiroz.com if you’d like to order early :)
